City man hurt in stabbing
Sunday, 26 November 2006
One man is in the hospital and another is being held as an illegal immigrant as Hazleton police investigate a stabbing in a home along the 800 block of North Vine Street early Saturday morning.
The victim, 22-year-old Fernando Rojas-Casado of Hazleton, was stabbed in the chest, according to police.
Rojas-Casado was found staggering in the area of 17th and Alter streets and was transported to Hazleton General Hospital by a passing motorist around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Rojas-Casado suffered the stab wound about 15 minutes earlier, police said.
He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital from HGH via helicopter. A hospital spokesman at Lehigh Valley Hospital declined to release his condition Saturday evening.
Police said 25-year-old Pedro Jiménez of McAdoo was also involved in the incident.
Jiménez suffered knife wounds to his neck and head.
Police said Jiménez at first gave the name Juan Cepeda, but they later checked and learned his real name.
Police also discovered Jiménez is wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement as an illegal immigrant. He is being held on a federal detainer.
The investigation is continuing and police ask that anyone with information call 459-4940. All replies will be kept confidential.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Well now, seems that Barletta wasn't fooling when he spoke of the violent crime rise by Illegal Aliens in Hazleton.
The Hazleton residents are fortunate to have a Mayor with courage to stand his ground.

This incident makes the mayor look good. I think that this story should also be on the national news networks and they should bring up the city ordinence up at that time. Maybe others will wake up and smell the coffee.
