A 25-year-old man faces deportation after a three-car crash on Airport Beltway in Hazle Township on Tuesday evening, state police at Hazleton said.

The accident happened at the Laurel Mall entrance at 6:50 p.m. as a car driven by Jose Segura was headed west on Airport Beltway, police said.

A sport utility vehicle driven by Eilleen Dobash of Hazleton was headed east on the beltway, and a third vehicle driven by Mary Digiandomenico was stopped at a red light exiting the mall, police said.

As Dobash’s vehicle neared the Laurel Mall entrance, Segura turned left in front of it, police said. Dobash’s vehicle struck the right side of Segura’s causing it to spin and strike Digiandomenico’s vehicle, police said.

Segura, whose vehicle was totalled, was cited for a careless turn and driving without a license, police said. Troopers also determined that he was an illegal alien, and the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on him, police said.

Segura was lodged at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in Wilkes-Barre pending deportation, police said.
