Bowers blamed Jews for helping 'invaders' in the migrant caravans
By Paul P. Murphy
Robert Bowers’ anti-Semitism fueled other hate speech that he published and shared on Gab.com
Bowers made anti-Semitic comments alongside xenophobic content, claiming that Jews were helping transport members of the migrant caravans in Latin America. He shared a video that another Gab.com user posted, purportedly of HIAS, a Jewish refugee support group, on the US-Mexico border.
In another post, Bowers described HIAS' overall efforts as, "sugar-coated evil."
He believed that those in the migrant caravans were violent because they were attempting to leave countries that had high levels of violence. And Bowers repeatedly called them “invaders.”
“I have noticed a change in people saying 'illegals' that now say 'invaders',” read one post, six days before the shooting. “I like this.”
At 9:49 a.m., in his final post on Gab.com, Bowers said referenced HIAS, saying he believed they brought in “invaders,” that were killing his people.

What is HIAS, group alleged Pittsburgh synagogue shooter obsessed over?
By
- Jared Leone, Cox Media Group National Content Desk
PITTSBURGH —
Robert Bowers, the suspect in the shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue during Saturday services, repeatedly made anti-Semitic posts on social media.
The ire in many of the posts, including one from just hours before the shooting started, was aimed at a group called HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.
“HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people,” the post read. “I can’t sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics, I’m going in.”
In another post, Bowers wrote: "You like to bring in hostile invaders to dwell among us? We appreciate the list of friends you have provided," and linked to the National Refugee Shabbat event, which was celebrated Oct. 20 at more than 300 gatherings across the U.S. and Canada.
So, what is HIAS?
The group originally formed in 1881 to help Jewish people flee pogroms in Russia and other parts of Eastern Europe and now helps persecuted refugees from all countries.
“There are no words to express how devastated we are by the events in Pittsburgh this morning,” the group said Saturday in a statement. “As we try to process this horrifying tragedy, we pray that the American Jewish community and the country can find healing.”

Anti-Semitic posts on 'alt-right Twitter' site Gab prompt confusion after Pittsburgh shooting
by Claude Thompson
| October 27, 2018 05:12 PM
The man accused of killing at least 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue may have communicated his intentions on the social media site Gab, a haven for "alt-right" sympathizers looking for an alternative to Twitter.
An account on Gab attributed to Robert Bowers, the same name as the alleged shooter, posted a criticism of the refugee advocacy group HIAS — an organization which was originally named the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. Someone using the username @onedingo posted "Screw your optics, I'm going in."
It was the last message on the account and was posted just before the shooting occurred. A previous post on the account blamed HIAS for bringing in "hostile invaders to dwell among us." There was no specific mention of the Tree of Life synagogue, but the account had anti-Semitic rhetoric posted to it.
Gab is a social media alternative to Twitter, functioning in a very similar style and aesthetic, and promotes itself on the platform of pure free speech. It's been considered a haven for those who have met with hostility or been banned from other platforms like Twitter since 2016, after President Trump won the election. So-called 'alt-right' personalities, in particular, have found a home on Gab.
The account tied to Bowers was taken down by Gab, but a snapshot was preserved around 11:00 a.m. EST,according to website archive system archive.is.
Confusion followed after the shooting because the handle @onedingo was also on a Twitter account. That Twitter account was created on August 2017 and has no tweet sent from it, but the user primarily followed accounts associated with the Kansas City area, rather than anything tied to Pittsburgh or the state of Pennsylvania.
It remains unconfirmed whether Bowers was the actual Gab account holder or that he made the posts on it. The @onedingo Twitter account was widely shared and cited after shooting, but it appears to have no connection to Bowers.
Other @onedingo Gab posts call President Trump a globalist and disparages his Make America Great Again campaign as well as noted Internet groups supporting Trump. An unverified and unarchived comment supposedly made by @onedingo on Gab was widely circulated by media outlets. It claims the user did not vote for Trump and that had avoided Trump's trademark red "MAGA" — "Make America Great Again" — baseball caps.
Gab has since taken to Twitter to defend itself as a neutral social media site that takes action against terrorists, claiming that it cooperated and reached out to the FBI before the bureau was even aware that Bowers had an account on their platform.

Words are not bullets.
Social media posts have a body count of zero.
The sole responsibility for today's horrific actions lies with one person.
We will do everything in our power to work with law enforcement to see that justice is served.

Im confused by these reports...
1. Is HIAS helping the illegal alien caravans get to the US border?
2. Is HIAS the group behind the pictures of trucks being circulated on all social media including Facebook, Twitter, GAB and other platforms purporting to show trucks with the Star of David bringing illegals to our border in the caravans?
While this attack and these murders are despicable acts that all Americans should condemn, our response should not be censorship and we should all strive for the truth and facts no matter where that leads.
Is HIAS Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society aiding the illegal alien caravans?

This Breitbart article from 28 Mar 2017 claims that HIAS is another Soros funded group intent upon flooding the United States with as many foreigners that will vote for the left as possible...
Soros-Funded Group Schemes to Stop Trump’s Latest Temporary Visa Ban
AP/Manuel Balce Ceneta 28 Mar 2017789 A lawsuit brought before a Maryland appeals court seeking to stop President Trump’s temporary ban on new visas from six Middle Eastern countries was filed by a left-wing group financed by billionaire George Soros.
The second group behind the lawsuit was massively funded by the federal government under the Obama administration to resettle refugees within the U.S.
On Monday, Bloomberg reported on the status of the lawsuit:
The Richmond-based appeals court on Monday offered to accelerate its review of the case, which would speed it along to the U.S. Supreme Court by skipping the traditional oral argument before three judges in favor of an initial full-court hearing. The parties have until March 30 to decide if they want that accelerated schedule.
The suit before the appeals court was filed by the International Refugee Assistance Project, HIAS, a refugee resettlement group established in the 19th century to aid Eastern European Jews, the Middle East Studies Association of North America and six individuals.
Similar to the current suit, the International Refugee Assistance Project was also a signatory to a lawsuit filed last January attempting to block Trump’s original executive order halting visas for 90 days for “immigrants and non-immigrants” from Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Iran and Iraq.
The International Refugee Assistance Project is located at the Urban Justice Center.
The Urban Justice Center is also the recipient of an Open Society grant.
Taryn Higashi, executive director of the Center’s International Refugee Assistance Project listed in the Trump lawsuit, currently serves on the Advisory Board of the International Migration Initiative of Soros’s Open Society Foundations.
The other group signed on to the lawsuit is the nonprofit HIAS, which describes itself as standing “for a world in which refugees find welcome, safety and freedom.”
Unmentioned in much of the news media coverage about the lawsuit is that HIAS has taken large sums in federal grants to help resettle refugees, as this reporter previously documented.
HIAS specializes in refugee resettlement and in 2015 received 65.3 percent of its annual $25 million budget from government grants.
Annual grants include funds from the State Department and the Office of Refugee Resettlement in the Department of Health and Human Services. Another major donor is the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
In 2015, the State Department provided $17,663,704 and the Department of Health and Human Services gave another $2,765,195.
The fiscal year 2014 saw a $16,959,850 State Department grant and $2,546,469 in funds from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Guidestar documented that in 2013, HIAS received $16,261,661 from government and intergovernmental agencies and took in a total of $31,218,870 in revenue.
In 2012, $14,707,399 in government grants were donated to HIAS and the organization produced $27,677,240 in revenue.
In 2008, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, a division of the UN Economic and Social Council, officially accepted HIAS as an accredited NGO.
HIAS openly states on its website that it is the “only Jewish organization designated by the federal government to undertake” refugee resettlement, which “lies at the heart of HIAS’ work.”
The group is partners with local Refugee Assistance Organizations around the country to “ensure successful integration.”
“Although this can be a long process requiring the participation of many actors, refugees bring the resilience and resourcefulness that saved their lives at home,” HIAS relates.
HIAS was an acronym that previously stood for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and it originally worked to resettle Jewish emigrants from Russia. It dropped the full title and only goes by the acronym now. Mark Hetfield, HIAS president and CEO, told the Washington Jewish Week in December 2014 the word “Hebrew” was exclusionary and outdated, comparing it with the use of the word “colored” to refer to African Americans.
Soros, meanwhile, has reportedly provided some $76 million for immigrant issues over the last decade alone.
In 2014, the New York Times credited “immigrant rights groups” financed by Soros and a handful of other donors with influencing President Obama’s immigration policy.
The newspaper reported:
When President Obama announces major changes to the nation’s immigration enforcement system as early as next week, his decision will partly be a result of a years-long campaign of pressure by immigrant rights groups, which have grown from a cluster of lobbying organizations into a national force.
A vital part of that expansion has involved money: major donations from some of the nation’s wealthiest liberal foundations, including the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Open Society Foundations of the financier George Soros, and the Atlantic Philanthropies. Over the past decade those donors have invested more than $300 million in immigrant organizations, including many fighting for a pathway to citizenship for immigrants here illegally.
In August, Breitbart Jerusalem first reported hacked documents from Soros’s Open Society Institute boasted that the billionaire and his foundation helped to successfully press the Obama administration into increasing to 100,000 the total number of refugees taken in by the U.S. annually.
The documents revealed that the billionaire personally sent President Obama a letter on the issue of accepting refugees.
