Immigrants rescued in the desert near Yuma
http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=4638986
YUMA, Ariz. The Border Patrol says agents rescued 20 illegal immigrants this morning after they activated a rescue beacon.
The Border Patrol says the rescue beacon is located in a remote area 20 miles south of Tacna.
Agents from the Wellton Station responded to the distress signal and encountered seven individuals who said they'd left additional people behind in the desert.
Agents began to backtrack the group and encountered five additional immigrants.
Later, eight more immigrants were apprehended approximately three miles south of the rescue beacon.
The immigrants were determined to be from Mexico.
They were transported to the Wellton Station for additional processing and the Mexican Consulate was notified of the incident.
None required medical assistance.
