Hearing for illegal immigrant continued
A preliminary hearing was again continued Tuesday for an illegal immigrant from Hazleton arrested on stabbing charges just days after murder charges against him were dropped.
Pedro Cabrera, 24, was scheduled to appear in front of Magisterial District Judge William Amesbury in Wilkes-Barre on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and simple assault.
The hearing has been rescheduled for September.
Cabrera is accused of stabbing Damian Justofin inside a Hazleton home on April 30, 2006, a week and a half before the slaying of Derek Kichline.
Cabrera was scheduled to be deported after prosecutors in early July dropped murder charges against him and another illegal immigrant in the Kichline case because a witness would not return to the United States to testify.
