— Contrary to popular belief, most immigrants who came to New Bedford in the early 20th century faced no restrictions on legal immigration. Many Portuguese immigrants came to the U.S. on tourist visas and simply stayed to work afterwards.

That was then, this is now. It's irrelevant as we DO have immigration laws now.

That's certainly true in the case of illegal aliens.

Uh, Guatemala has no formal census metrics to gauge native alcoholism and depression rates, much less anything that could compare natives versus the repatriated.
