Birds of a feather flock together, the old saying goes. And quite a few birds of prey were planning to flock together at the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island on March 7. But, now they will have to fly somewhere else.

That was the day when United Patriots of America, a xenophobic group that blames immigration for everything - big or small - that they are unhappy with, wanted to hold a town hall meeting at the hotel, supposedly to "promote local enforcement of immigration laws."

But Bryan Pu-Folkes, executive director of the Jackson Heights-based New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), sent a strongly worded letter to the Hilton with copies to several civil rights leaders and elected officials making it clear what United Patriots of America really is. After that, the hotel did not hesitate to cancel the event

"Within 24 hours, more than 20 people had called the hotel asking them to revoke UPA's permission to hold their event," Pu-Folkes said. Eventually, he found out later, the number of calls to the hotel protesting the town hall meeting swelled to 500

"While we recognize and acknowledge that UPA and its leaders and members have a First Amendment right to freedom of expression and association, that right does not extend so as to enable the direct or indirect promotion of danger or harm to a person's or group's welfare," the letter read in part.

"We believe that UPA's actions and words are, at minimum, so inflammatory that they may very well promote senseless danger and harm to innocent people in the Staten Island and greater New York community.

""Do not forget that this is a group that urges people to arm themselves to fight against a 'foreign invasion,'" Pu-Folkes said. "The potential for violence is enormous.

"Not surprisingly, other groups with similar agendas were scheduled to join the "Patriots." Among them were the Federation of American Immigration Reform (a national anti-immigration group), the Sachem Quality of Life (opposed to immigrants and immigrant rights in Farmingville, L.I.) and PEOPLE (the main group supporting the closing of a hiring hall in Freehold, N.J.).

Naturally, the United Patriots of America, as most of these groups do, presents itself as a bunch of harmless citizens - patriots, really - concerned about quality of life, the future of the U.S., etc. But that is just a convenient mask to hide a very ugly face.

The Anti-Defamation League, a preeminent civil rights organization, has identified the organization as a group that shares ties to white supremacists and that is "increasingly working in concert with other radicals to promote an extreme world-view - not of immigration control or reform, but one of hate and intolerance.

The President of United Patriots of America, Chris Simcox, is the gun-toting founder of a group based in Arizona named "Citizens Border Patrol Militia," whose members arm themselves and regularly patrol the U.S.-Mexican border, especially routes leading to desert water stations. Such reckless behavior has reportedly been a likely cause of deaths of migrants, who seek to avoid confrontation with Simcox and his group

The Los Angeles Times recently interviewed him and quoted Simcox as damning immigrants and stating that it doesn't matter if he dies in a blaze of gunfire in order to "protect" the borders of the U.S.

"What they [UPA and its supporters] are really trying to do coming here," said Ana MarÃÂ*a Archila, the executive director of the Latin American Immigration Center, which has an office in Staten Island, "is to exploit the natural tensions that have emerged in this borough as a result of its rapid diversification.

"They will be surprised by how rapidly we will respond to their provocations," Archila said.Birds of a feather flock together

But not in Staten Island - at least not this kind of bird.

RR, I just this minute started looking for "Legal Teams" that are on our side of the issue.

There are many questions that need to be answered.

We have a sister organization ...they are larger than we are and they're part of the UPA which was going to the Hilton meeting. I'm sure they have attorneys that they have used in these situations. I'd really rather have someone that has a track record for groups such as ours.

Also the teamamerica people might be able to direct us to good attorneys.

Boycott Hilton Hotels. Nobody on this board needs to give one dime to these cheap labor whores. Lets start this by saying that no one here will step foot in their crummy hotels ever again until they get their act together. We need to target some businesses that pander to invaders. Lets make a list starting with Hilton Hotels and start speaking with our wallets. You pander to invaders, you lose our business, plain and simple.

Note that there is no mention of the work "illegal."

Isn't HILTON HOTELS one of the La Raza FUNDERS???

Question: why did they prevent the meeting?

Answer: La Raza Affiliates called and asked their sponsor to help them out and keep the Patriots out of the Hotel.

PEOPLE: WHEN organizations and foundations abuse the public charity provisions of the Internaal Revenue Code, they violate the spirit of the American political system. These organizations are not supposed to have access to the Hilton Hotels for political agenda. These organizations are not supposed to have access to Lou Dobbs for political agenda. This is illegal access and collusion with for profit corporations. The relationship between these not for profits and corporate america is ILLEGAL when it is used to foster political agendas in the United States which include defaming innocent people; denying them access to services; restricting their right to assemble to exercise their free speech. We've seen it in Denver and now in Staten Island. It is probably happening all over the USA.

These relationships spawned by violations of Internal Revenue Code are INTERFERING with Americans rights of assembly, rights of free speech, rights to SAVE OUR NATION!!

BOYCOTT ANYTHING HILTON!! Including that pretty but silly girl, Paris, Carl's Burgers for whom she just did a near pornographic ad for, and any and everything else Hilton or any Hilton person owns, sponsors, or promotes using the Hilton name.

That's the answer dman1200. Any of these corporate co-consipators should be boycotted. If they have to rely on LULAC and the other
Mexifasict groups to fill their rooms, they will go out of business. Paris Hilton will have to get a job that "even blacks won't do".
