Tancredo Blasts CAFTA's Back Door Immigration Provisions - Foreigners to Side-Step Immigration Laws

Trade Pact Threatens U.S. Sovereignty, Allows Foreigners to Side-Step Immigration Laws

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) sent a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman, outlining the lawmaker's serious concerns with the nearly 1,000 page-long Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA).

"This agreement opens America's borders to a lot more than sugar and bananas," said Tancredo, "This agreement, as drafted, will effectively give people from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic a de facto right to work in the United States."

The agreement comes on the heels of prior trade agreements with Singapore and Chile, both of which also included provisions liberalizing immigration law.

Despite continued insistence by CAFTA's supporters that the deal does not include immigration provisions, the plain language of the agreement suggests otherwise.

Tancredo pointed to Chapter 11 of the agreement, which stipulates that, "Cross-border trade in services or cross-border supply of services means the supply of a service...by a national of a party in the territory of another party." The agreement goes on to say that the U.S. must ensure that, "measures relating to qualification requirements and procedures, technical standards and licensing requirements do not constitute unnecessary barriers to trade in services," and are "not in themselves a restriction on the supply of the service."

"This agreement will allow foreign companies to challenge our immigration policies in international CAFTA tribunals and argue that the laws impede their ability to access the U.S. service sector," said Tancredo. "That would force Congress to change our immigration laws, or subject our businesses to trade sanctions."

"If this agreement is approved, the 'exclusive' power of Congress to regulate immigration policy will be subjugated to the whim of international tribunals - the same way that Congress ceded its once supreme Constitutional authority to 'regulate commerce with foreign nations' to the WTO."

That is exactly what CAFTA means and more.

It means we regulate nothing in the United States, because as you know, with the President's little sneaky plan to "combine" us with Canada and Mexico....we can't even regulate our "trade or security."

Evaporation.....by contract.....subject to World Decision-Makers....Poof...what was that, someone might ask if they happened to notice a whiff of smoke fliter up from Bush's Genie Bottle. Oh, that is what was once the United States, another would answer. They were "contracted out" you know, they would explain. Sad really. But, you know what they say, "All good things come to an end sometime."

To tell you the truth, if it were not for Congressman Tancredo, I don't know where this country would be. Worse off than now, and with FAR less hope.

You are right LegalUSCitizen....he is really the only Congressman or Senator standing up for Americans!! I am behind him all the way. None of the others even bothered to read the 1000 page document. It used to be 2400 pages. I wonder what happened to the other 1400?? Maybe they are "exhibits" or "signature pages". Somewhere I read where after the initial 6 countries sign CAFTA, there are another 19 that can be "added" by asking to join.

There is no limit or bounds to this "contractual" madness to end our nation.

I find it refreshing to find those who will publicly speak up about this. We are getting several reps in NC doing the same. Only one who said they spoke with several business owners and that is why she decided to support CAFTA.

yeah I heard an audio tape of this speech by Tancredo. Absolutely shocking that the president of this nation is pushing this. We will be flooded by an endless flow...

And under CAFTA that "endless flow" will be Legal and there won't be a darn thing anyone can do about it. Our laws will be worth nothing under the World Court and WTO system of governing "trade".

We are being "contracted out" of existence by this President and those before him that supported NAFTA and those working feverishly on our public payrolls to end our nation through international pacts with Mexico and Canada to achieve open borders and an eternal endless flow into the United States through "regulation" instead of "legislation" from every nation in the world. And then we have the Grand Finale...the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas which encompasses the entire Western Hemisphere. And thus, there was, an East and a West who said "lets agree" to rule together...and then there was a Pact between Two....that became One.

CAFTA is Pure Evil as was NAFTA before it. But CAFTA is worse, because of the "free-flow of people, labor and goods" provisions into the United States, a process that will be SOLELY GOVERNED by foreign nations on the World Court and the World Trade Organization. And then there will be disputes among the populace and a World Army will be required to maintain an ORDERLY FLOW. What else could they do to manage the masses they just robbed of their sovereignty, independence and liberties generations fought and died to secure for future generations.

Will Americans sit still for this? Will Americans continue to camp idly on their counches crunching Cheetos watching cartoons with their kids as the nation they love does down another tube? Will Americans say with generosity and love of giving in their hearts, "Sure, take my home and my kids and I will move to the Drone Dorms" and paddle off with smiles and a welcoming wave good-bye to their past and move gleefully to a one room hovel as the Bishops and El Presidente would like and believe? Will Americans stand by as Flags from Foreign Nations are raised each morning on the public school grounds filled with foreign nationals from countries they've never heard of and states and provinces they can't pronounce? Will Americans be Spectators to their own battle for their own lives and livelihood?

Only Psychopathic Sicko-Wacko-Evil-Parasites-From-Hell ManiaXs would believe such a thing possible.

Americans will not sit, they will not camp, they will not paddle off, they will not stand by, they will not be Spectators to Their Own Demise.

Anyone who thinks so is more foolish and ignorant than I can possibly imagine and I've run across some real Dumbos in my life.

Americans are Americans....yesterday, today and tomorrow.

And for those of you plotting the end of THIS nation, all I can tell you, is you better get those limos gassed up, Get Out of Dodge and Yesterday Wouldn't Have Been Soon Enough.

I know Judy--The flow will be coming straight into America. Mostly illiterate, desperately poor and willing to work for less and less and less. Quality of life goes down and down from over-crowding.

Other nations that do not have this inherent psychological quality do not understand that.

Americans will not tolerate this....because they can not....it is not in them, it is not within their physical, emotional or mental capability to accept what these Evil Powers have in store.

Americans will fight and claw to the end to avoid this, because to fail to do it means their own suffocation with their own rope.

Americans are survivors on their terms.

The sooner the world learns this characteristic about Americans, the sooner this Madness will end.

Show them America. Show them who you are and were born to be.

Judy I agree. If we keep bringing in millions of people, because nothing matters except that we have more consumers buying, we will ruin everything. One trip to Mexico City will show you where we are headed...
