    The nation's homeland security chief says he supports a temporary guest worker program as a humanitarian approach to dealing with the 11 million to 12 million immigrants in the country illegally.

    During a speech yesterday in Los Angeles, Michael Chertoff suggested a ``tough and fair'' policy that would allow those immigrants to stay and contribute to America's economy, but said they must pay a price for entering the country illegally.

    Yesterday, Congressman Jeff Flake proposed a plan calling for illegal immigrants to leave the United States and re-enter legally before becoming eligible for permanent U.S. residency.

    Under the plan, those in the country as of June 1st, 2006, would be granted six-year work visas.

    Does anyone with half a brain, think that anyone will be able to tell how long an illegal immigrant has been here? Hahahaha! This is so lame! These illegal immigrants have 3, 4, or more entire sets of 1. birth certificate, 2. drivers license, and 3. social security card. One set is bound to make it through "Homeland Security's" FAIL-SAFE SYSTEM OF CHECKING THE BACKGROUNDS AND AUTHENTICTY OF THESE BOGUS ID'S. What a complete joke! I hope these crooks in DC - under the Bush administration- don't really believe that Americans are that stupid!
