Homeland Security Gives Maine New Deadline For Real ID

AUGUSTA (AP) -- The only state that has so far failed to get an extension on the Real ID deadline is being given more time to sort out its differences with the Department of Homeland Security.
Homeland Security Secterary Michael Chertoff has set a new deadline of 5 p.m. Wednesday to give the state more time to show it's making progress toward meeting Real ID guidelines.

Residents of states that don't get extensions may be barred from entering federal buildings and boarding airplanes using their current driver's licenses beginning in May.

Sen. Susan Collins says the state must commit to four improvements. Those include ceasing to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens and checking applicants' status with the federal government before issuing licenses.

Maine is the only state that failed to meet the original deadline for a waiver.

How will people report for federal jury duty if barred from entering a federal building?

Could enable federal judges to concentrate on deportation hearings before the cost of gas increases even more!!!!

I want to know how illegals are going to get into federal building for their deportation hearing!!

After most of them get arrested they are given a court date and must appear in court. I guess they are not worried about that because most of them don't show up!!
