Honda Ads in Spanish Aimed at Different Countries

There was a letter in to the editor by a legal concerned Hispanic woman regarding Honda's recent ad. This is from the Opinion page in the Miami Herald.

"There is a huge cloth billboard sponsored by Honda looming over downtown Miami Avenue and Flagler Street written in Spanish. Translated it says: "The Cubans are responsible for making Miami a paradise."
I'm not quite sure what prompted this ad, but I can only imagine how the thousands of people of other cultural backgrounds who have made wonderful contributions to this city must have felt upon reading it. (Both of my parents are from Cuba.)
What prompted Honda to put up this billboard?

    DIANA QUINONES, Hialeah

There are similar adds on bus shelters by my place that are in Spanish and have Argentina in it. It is obvious that the reason Honda is doing this is to sell them cars. Ford was one of the first down here to directly aim at both Hispanics and African Americans in English TV ads. I guess Honda knows that many Hispanics don't want to become Americanized and hence their ads glorifying them. Let the Honda boycott begin.

When I look in my Websters for "paridise" sure don't see a picture of West Flagler street. But at least most popular Hondas and made in the USA.
