    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
House proponents of comprehensive immigration reform unveiled their mammoth proposal Tuesday, with hopes that President Barack Obama will give a new push to their cause early next year.

The 700-page measure has 88 Democratic co-sponsors from a mix of liberal caucuses and ties together a mix of contentious provisions, namely a pathway to legalization for illegal immigrants. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), who has been leading the charge for immigration reform in the House, said Tuesday he is handing off ownership of the bill to Rep. Solomon Ortiz (D-Texas) since he founded the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and is the longest-serving Member of the group.

Bill supporters say they are optimistic that they will find the 218 votes to pass the bill by spring, despite its current lack of support among Republicans and moderate Democrats. “We’re getting the confidence from the mosaic you see here this afternoon,â€

first off the numbers are way off ... Illegal Immigrants numbers range between 20 - 48 Million not the Politician friendly 12 million

second 26.4 MILLION American citizens are UNEMPLOYED or UNDER EMPLOYED during a DEPRESSION not a DOUBLE DIP RECESSION

third - They are pushing this now because the Economy is getting WORSE and they are trying to RUSH This Through because it is going to be harder after ANOTHER RUN ON THE BANKs and a STOCK Market Crash

you are not through the worst of this DEPRESSION; it's just the END of the BEGINNING

Politicians be warned ... 83 percent of AMERICA doesn't want CIR or AMNESTY ... far higher than the HEATH CARE BILL and look at the Trouble you have going on NOW

The numbers are large because many of those claiming amnesty will also include those who over stayed visas. We have thousands of Hondurans and Colombians who have done just that. Yes jobs are not availible for Americans but those illegals have them many of them already which is horrible. My biggest fear is if they are accustom to breaking our laws already why would they not continue to do so. Look at the Cubans who have come from the 80's on. They have been used to living under communism and scamming to make more money or extras they would not normally have. Then they come here and you have them arrested for medicaid fraud, marriage for greencards scams and smuggling other Cubans in. As the saying goes a leopard doesn't change his spots.

Yes, even Jeff Flake (who cosponsored the STRIVE amnesty with Gutierrez I believe) is not supporting this, at least at this time (admittedly not for all the right reasons).

So hopefully not many GOP House members will support this, and hopefully not many of the more moderate Democrats in the House (such as Heath Shuler).
