Feds: Illegal aliens recruited to buy driver’s licenses from bureau employee Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents say 37-year-old Melissa Green used her job as a driver’s license examiner in a scheme to issue licenses to illegal aliens seeking work in Alabama.

Two Mexican nationals and an Uzbeki national were arrested last week in connection to the case.

According to a news release issued this week, agents arrested Green, her husband Alfred Green, 40, and Davron Gayupov, 29, of Gulfport, MS; Baldamer Esquivel, 37, of Troy, AL; and Marco Martinez, 40, of Mobile, AL. Authorities alleged that each participated in a scheme to sell driver’s licenses for $2,000 each.

ICE officials initiated the investigation after they received information that Martinez – who was employed at a Mobile, AL, shipyard – was recruiting illegal aliens who wanted ID cards to gain employment at the shipyard. ICE agents worked with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

It is illegal for anyone without legal status to obtain a Mississippi-issued driver’s license.
