PHOENIX - Contributions totaling more than $1.6 million have now been made to Arizona's fund to help defend the state's law cracking down on illegal immigration.
Documents obtained by The Associated Press from Gov. Jan Brewer's office on Friday indicate that more than $1.3 million has been contributed through the state's website, with the rest sent by mail.
Of the updated total, approximately $75,000 was received on Wednesday, the day a federal judge blocked implementation of key parts of the law. Brewer's lawyers are appealing the judge's order.
Brewer established the fund in late May, and donations surged after the U.S. Department of Justice filed a court challenge to the law on July 8.
