House Republicans Unveil Border Security Plan

On July 29, 2022, House Republicans published a white paper outlining several steps their conference will secure the southern border in the case they retake the House in the 2022 midterms.

United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered 207,416 migrants at the southern border in June 2022. According to the Daily Caller, this is the fourth consecutive month that the agency encountered north of 200,000 migrants.

In total, CBP has encountered over 3.9 million migrants at the border with Mexico ever since Joe Biden was installed in office. This report called attention to 800,000 known “gotaways” taking place in this time period.

Republicans indicated that they will pass the Border Security for America Act. Under this legislation, the wall at the southern border would be completed, allocate funds towards monitoring technologies and increase the funding for CBP staff. In addition, these House Republicans propose modifying Title 42, the public health order that expedites deportations during the Wuhan virus pandemic, in a way that it applies to the “mounting public health crisis from illicit narcotics.”

Some of the other proposals include reviving the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), allocating more funds towards Immigration and Customs Enforcement and mandating that employers use the E-Verify system. The Biden regime did away with former President Donald Trump’s executive order implementing MPP early on in the administration. Though a federal judge ordered Biden to revive the program.

Peter Brimelow, the founder of immigration patriot website VDARE and the author of Alien Nation, commented with respect to these latest developments. In a tweet he posted on July 30, 2022, Brimelow

“Does not include ending Birthright Citizenship (let alone retroactively). Not serious.”

Indeed, while it’s good to see Republicans nominally embrace border security, any plan that doesn’t deal with several of the most migration magnets such as birthright citizenship is not serious about addressing the mass migration question.

Republicans are going back to their Conservatism Inc ways by using the border security canard to huff and puff about the immigration issue, while not offering comprehensive patriotic immigration reform such as ending chain migration, doing away with birthright citizenship, and implementing an immigration moratorium.

Overall, there’s still a lot of work to be done on getting the GOP moving in an immigration patriotic direction.
