A woman from Mexico has been sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in federal prison for her role in a scheme to sell fake identification and other documents to illegal workers.

Celia Mendoza-Pizano, 59, was arrested in June in California, where investigators say she and others bought Social Secutiy numbers and birth certificates from drug users and sold them to Mexican immigrnats who used the documents to get jobs at U.S. companies that included the Swift meatpacking plant in Marshalltown.

Customers included illegals immigrants in Toledo and Cedar Rapids, prosecutors said.

Mendoza-Pizano will be deported at the conclusion off her prison term, according to federal judge Linda Reade, who also fined her $100.

A fine of $100 for multiple idenity thieft--what a joke! Fines for these sort of crimes should include court costs, cost of incarceration and at least $100,000.

Do you have any idea how many of thousands of dollars it is going to take for people that had their Social Security number / Identity stolen and this wacko judge gives her 2 years 3 months in a federal prison. She will probably get time off for good behavior and be out in a year

A 100 dollar fine.. wow ... what the hell is this judge thinking... obviously the judge didn't want that 100.00 cutting into the coyote money so she can sneak back into the country and set up shop again. No wonder these Illegal Aliens do what they do, the chance of getting caught is slim, the punishment isn't severe enough to deter them and the pay off is huge as they steal the Identities of hard work Americans. Is this a fruity Federal liberal judge, does anybody know who appointed her to her seat

An American would get to pay $100,000.....

Not only will it cost the victims of the ID theft much time and money to restore their good names it is also costing the taxpayers big bucks for the investigation and prosecution of the crime and for the incarceration as punishment. But then we are already paying mucho dinero for the drug pushers, rapists, drunk drivers, gangbangers, etc. that are filling up our jails.

And I suppose Mexico will blame us for making it too easy for such crimes to take place... We need protestors for Calderon's visit.
