Hundreds expected for May Day march in San Diego

More than two dozen community and human-rights groups are planning to march in San Diego today to draw attention to such issues as social injustice and immigration reform.
The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. in front of City College and head to Pantoja Park, on G Street between State Street and Kettner Boulevard.
From there, the march will head to Chicano Park on National Avenue in Barrio Logan, where a rally is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
May 1 is Labor Day in Latin America and other parts of the world, and it has become an important date for immigrants in the United States.
On that day in 2006, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets around the nation to call for wide-ranging immigration reform.
The activities today will coincide with demonstrations in more than 200 cities nationwide, said David Schmidt of the SÃ* Se Puede coalition, one of the participating organizations.

Update from San Diego.
My husband is in San Diego at the moment on a short visit. He says there are BP Agents all over the place, everywhere you look.
Is this the norm for San Diego or is it something in response to the marches?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

He said he never, ever recalls seeing so many BP there.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
