U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers performing anti-terror inspections at the Bridge of the Americas commercial cargo facility in El Paso seized 2,805 pounds of marijuana Saturday afternoon.

The drugs were concealed in a false wall of a trailer.

The seizure was made just after noon when a tractor-trailer entered the facility from Mexico. A CBP officer at the primary inspection booth selected the rig for an x-ray scan. While waiting in line to approach the x-ray system, CBP drug sniffing dog "Hanna" alerted to the front of the trailer. CBP officers scanned the trailer and spotted an anomaly in the appearance of the front wall.

CBP officers drilled into the front wall area of the trailer, revealing a green substance that tested positive for marijuana. CBP officers removed a false front wall from the trailer, revealing 713 marijuana-filled bundles. The drugs weighed 2,805 pounds. No arrests were made and the investigation is continuing.

CBP officers working at border ports of entry in El Paso, West Texas, and New Mexico made 10 additional 30 drug seizures this weekend. They seized 1,384 pounds of marijuana in those busts.

CBP officers screen all people, vehicles, and goods entering the United States, while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel into and out of the United States.

Their mission also includes carrying out traditional border-related responsibilities, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration law,
and protecting the nation's food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases.

While anti-terrorism is the primary mission of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the inspection process at the ports of entry associated with this mission results in impressive numbers of enforcement actions in all categories.

NAU drug trade at its finest! I can't wait till the Mexican trucks start rolling in! Man they can jam lots of illegals in the back of a 54' trailer! Also if they are "trusted" SPP traders they can skip the customs search and go right to there destination or rendezvous point!
