West Texas woman sentenced to 15 years in federal prison in RICO case
Monica Velasco, the 43-year-old sister of Dalia, Emmanuel and Samuel, remains a fugitive in this case. Monica Velasco is charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO statute, two money laundering counts and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and import over 1,000 kilograms of marijuana.

Former NYPD sergeant sentenced to 28 years for child exploitation
Alberto Randazzo, 40, of Astoria, New York, was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment, eight years of supervised release and sex offender registration for sexual exploitation and receipt of child pornography.

ENFORCEMENT AND REMOVAL

Phoenix ICE officers deport accused child sexual predator wanted in El Salvador
Melvy Edgardo Amaya, 32, was transferred to the custody of Salvadoran immigration officials by ERO officers at Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport in El Salvador. Amaya is named in an arrest warrant issued July 24, 2009, by a judge in San Salvador.

ICE HSI and Boston Public Library return cultural artifacts to Italy
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Boston Public Library repatriated several items of significant cultural value to the government of Italy at a ceremony Wednesday at the Boston Public Library. Included among these items were a 14th century manuscript, an illuminated page from a 15th century manuscript, nearly 200 ancient Roman coins and a book from the personal library of a 14th century Archbishop in Sicily.

The defendants are Jovan Rendon-Reyes, aka Jovani, 33, of Mexico; Saul Rendon-Reyes, aka Satanico, 39, of Queens; Guillermina Rendon-Reyes, 46, of Mexico; Francisco Rendon-Reyes, aka Pancho, 28, of Queens; Jose Rendon-Garcia, aka Gusano, 34, of Mexico; Felix Rojas, 47, of Mexico; Odilon Martinez-Rojas, aka Chino or Saul, 45, of Mexico; and Severiano Martinez-Rojas, 52, of Mexico.

Colorado man sentenced to 27 years in federal prison for producing child pornography with an infant
Richard Hennis, 41, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a co-defendant, Brandi Leonard, were first charged by criminal complaints on March 11, 2016.

Former West Texas man sentenced to nearly 16 years in federal prison on child pornography conviction
According to documents filed in the case, Jeffrey Neal Cuddington, 38, used his computers to search on the internet for images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

NM man sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for commercial sex trafficking
Shane Roach, 27, was sentenced April 13. His prison sentence is to be followed by five years of supervised release, and he must register as a sex offender when he completes his sentence.

NM man sentenced to 6 ½ years in federal prison for possessing, receiving child pornography
William Allen Patterson, 34, from Alamogordo, New Mexico, must also register as a sex offender after he completes his sentence. Patterson was arrested Aug. 10, 2016, on a criminal complaint charging him with possessing and receiving visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit activity from 2002 to 2012, and on Aug. 10, 2016, in Otero County, New Mexico.

Seattle childcare worker receives over 6 years for possessing child pornography
Kyle J. Tate, 34, was arrested in May and pleaded guilty in November after another individual implicated him in the collection and sharing of child pornography. HSI special agents acted swiftly in obtaining a federal search warrant to seize digital devices located in Tate’s home due to his proximity to children at the Hutch Kids Child Care Center where he worked.

3 Houston-area men charged with human smuggling
A federal criminal complaint was filed April 21 against Luis Cesar Avalos-Hernandez, 32, Alvaro Cruz-Suarez, 27, and Giovanni Arrelola-Villalobos, 21, all from Mexico. They are expected to make their initial appearances before U.S. Magistrate Judge Frances Stacy on Tuesday, April 25.

Utah man sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography
Laron Thomas Zaugg, 50, of Ogden, Utah, reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors in December. He admitted that beginning about Aug. 26, 2014, and continuing until about Dec, 5, 2014, he received images and videos of child pornography on his yahoo email account.

Illinois man convicted in North Dakota for sex trafficking, conspiracy
Anthony Donte Collier, aka Koleone the Great, 29, was found guilty following an 11 ½-day jury trial of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking a child, and four counts of sex trafficking.

Former NYPD sergeant sentenced to 28 years for child exploitation
Alberto Randazzo, 40, of Astoria, New York, was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment, eight years of supervised release and sex offender registration for sexual exploitation and receipt of child pornography.

Denver OCDETF strike force takes down Mexican drug-trafficking organization responsible for distributing large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine
These arrests resulted from a one-year investigation into the inner workings of a Mexican-led drug-trafficking organization that brought drugs into the country through California to Colorado. A federal grand jury in Denver earlier returned an indictment charging 17 defendants with illegal drug-trafficking conduct. The indictment contains a total of 45 counts, including an asset-forfeiture allegation.

Chad Michael Bennett, 42, from Odessa, Texas, was sentenced April 19 by visiting U.S. District Judge Keith P. Ellison to 120 months in federal prison.

Houston-area man pleads guilty to sexually exploiting a child, distributing and possessing child pornography
Ryan Glen Colburn, 23, of Rosenberg, Texas, first came to the attention of law enforcement after he sent images of child pornography to another individual who had been arrested on child pornography charges.

Federal jury convicts Dallas man of November 2015 armed assault on federal officers
Victor Manuel Solorzano, 32, was convicted of the following crimes: one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; two counts of assaulting a federal officer; and two counts of using, carrying, brandishing and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Federal jury in Dallas convicts Mexican man of illegally re-entering US after previously being deported
Ignacio Arellano-Banuelos, 36, faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. He has been in custody since his arrest in June 2016. Sentencing is set for July 31. Arellano-Banuelos will be deported after serving his sentence.

Edwin Oland Andrus, from Cleburne, Texas, was convicted after a South Texas jury deliberated for less than two hours after a two-day trial.

New Mexico man pleads guilty to child exploitation charge, may receive 10 to 11 years in federal prison
The plea agreement recommends that Ignacio Salcido Jr., 38, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, be sentenced to between 120 to 135 months in federal prison, which is to be followed by a period of supervised release to be determined by the court.
