Illegal alien caught in Morristown PD investigation pleads guilty to using false ID to get job

Rene Otero Bautista, 26, a native of Mexico, pleaded guilty this week to using a false Resident Alien Cart to meet U.S. job requirements.

Bautista's plea came in U.S. District Court in Greeneville.

Bautista now faces a maximum sentence of 5 years, a maximum fine of $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, forfeiture of the false documents and deportation when his completes his prison term.

According to U.S. Attorney Russ Dedrick, Bautista was one of illegal aliens indicted by a federal grand jury after an investigation by the Morristown Police Department and the FBI.

The specifics of the case focused on Bautista using false documents to Henley Roofing Company, Knoxville, to get a job.

Bautista remains in federal custody awaiting sentencing.
