Police Make Progress With Arrests In Rash Of Cedar Rapids Car Burglaries

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- More than 20 car break-ins have been reported in southwest Cedar Rapids in the last month, but police had a break in the case Wednesday.

Undercover officers caught Rudy Alarcon-Maldonado, 25, of Cedar Rapids, breaking into cars at in the 2300 block of Edgewood Road SW, near St. Luke’s Urgent Care. The officers had been sent to the area to observe anything that might solve the burglaries, police said.
