TX: State Voter I.D. Bill Approved By Senate

State Voter I.D. Bill Approved By Senate

    Last Update: 7:08 am

AUSTIN - Lawmakers are debating whether you should have to show a photo ID to vote.

Lawmakers debated a proposed bill yesterday. Most of the time was spent trying to agree on the standards.

Democrats had trouble clarifying the number of days a voter would have to prove their identity if any questions arise. Representative Armando Martinez, a Democrat from Weslaco, says the wording is misleading.

"Completely misleading because people can take that as either calendar days or business days, have the confusion and not be able to vote, and that's the last thing we want. We don't want Texans to have any type of suppression on their vote.", said Representative Martinez.

Republicans say the bill would stop voter fraud. Democrats say the bill is targeting the poor and minority voters who they say are less likely to have a state issued ID.

The bill has passed the senate. It now goes back to the committee. The bill could be back on the house floor by Wednesday.

EVERYONE that is an American citizen has a legal ID. Another LIBERAL smokescreen from the lamest of the left.

No State ID ? Any citizen of Texas can get a ID even if they can not get a licence to drive. Once more the Dems going for illegals to vote. Truly no suprise.

Thanks for the welcome. I have been with ALIPAC quite awhile. Just never posted here. I have been a activist in the illegal imigration fight quite a long while. Am still at it. I post links and things like that in other groups that are working to stop illegal immigration. Keep up the good work we are having some impact. When we started our group at yahoo groups about 8 years ago we thought we never had a chance. But we had more sucess that we ever expected. I expect more to come. America has started to awaken. I belive in 2012 we will make more gains as we remove those in office that have thumbed their nose at us so long. We just have to keep up the pressure.

    .

Show a state identification card or state license and you vote. Why is martinez trying to complecate this. This tells me there may be plenty of people voting who shouldn't be anywhere near a voting booth!

ya really have to ask why he is trying to complicate this?
he is hispanic and he is afraid that his people wont be able to vote.
especially those who are here illegally
