President Barack Obama's illegal half-uncle is preparing to fight new efforts to have him deported.

According to the Boston Herald, Onyango Obama met with immigration enforcement as they begin the process of having him sent back to Kenya.

In the meantime, Obama will have to regularly check in with immigration officials.

He was ordered to leave the country in 1992, but never left.

His immigration status came to light after his august arrest for driving under the influence.

Obama plans on fighting the deportation, hiring the same attorney who helped the president's half-aunt win asylum in 2010.
