LAS VEGAS —
Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley wants to link Republican rival Dean Heller to tea party leader Sharron Angle.
Berkley's U.S. Senate campaign said Wednesday that Heller's immigration views are extreme and incendiary.
The campaign compared Heller's tough stance on immigration to Angle's anti-illegal immigration platform during her 2010 contest against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
In that campaign, Reid tried to portray Angle as an extreme candidate. Berkley is now working with some of the same campaign staffers who helped Reid win.
Heller opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants and supports border security.
He told Hispanic leaders on Friday that he would work with the Latin Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas to come up with an immigration solution. His office said Wednesday that a meeting date has not yet been set.
