DETROIT — A Shelby Township, Michigan, man was arrested Friday following a three-month joint investigation that resulted in the seizure of drugs, ammunition and firearms. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Michigan State Police Downriver Area Narcotics Organization (DRANO) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Nua Gjokaj
was arrested May 5, following the execution of a search warrant at a Detroit business and a Shelby Township residence.

Multijurisdictional task forces officers seized the following items: 54 firearms, one vehicle, $94,000, five pounds of marijuana, 334 grams of suspected heroin, 30.5 grams of suspected cocaine and 1,500 pills of suspected hydrocodone and Xanax.

"Narcotics trafficking does not recognize borders and often leads to other crimes" said First Lt. Michael Shaw, public information officer for the Michigan State Police. "It is through the great work of these task forces that we are able to stop the flow of drugs and illegal weapons into our communities."

Gjokaj is being charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics. He is currently in U.S. Marshals’ custody pending an initial hearing Tuesday in federal court.
