ICE: Manager Told Illegal Aliens To Lie
HR Manager Encouraged Falsifying Documents, Feds Say

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- A manager at a Greenville County poultry processing plant is accused of telling employees to falsify immigration documents.

Elaine Crump was charged Tuesday with 20 counts of telling employees to use falsified forms.

Crump is a Human Relations manager at the Columbia Farms plant on Rutherford Road. The parent company of Columbia Farms is House of Raeford in Rose Hill, N.C.

An investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents found that employees had used invalid alien registration numbers and Social Security numbers, or listed numbers as their own that belonged to others.

They said Crump encouraged the falsification of records for 20 employees between December 2006 and may 2007.

Last month, five supervisors at the processing plant were charged with providing false documentation so they could be hired, despite being illegal immigrants.

They face charges of making a false statement to a federal agency, presenting false documents to a federal agency and aggravated identity theft.

If convicted, the five supervisors face federal prison time and deportation.

A judge set Crump's bond at $25,000.

This does not surprise me considering what I have learned about my mothers employer. The boss himself knowingly hires these people with fake ID's (caught one, and then re-hired him under another name).

This is the reason people like my daughter and her boyfriend cannot find jobs, and likely will not have enough for Augusts rent unless they can scrape enough together.

At my husbands work, there are temps being brought in and hoping for a permanent job, saying they don't care if it is minimum wage, and these are people in their 30's, 40's and 50's, not just the younger set.
