TUCSON - A Mexico City man who was caught re-entering the U.S. after being deported twice before has been sentenced to nearly 8 years in federal prison.
The U.S. attorney's office in Phoenix announced on Friday that 34-year-old Arturo Ramirez Garcia received a 70-month term after pleading guilty to attempted re-entry after deportation.
He also was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge James Cacheris to two additional years because he was on supervised release from an earlier re-entry after a deportation conviction where he served two years in prison.
Ramirez was caught on June 2, 2009, after jumping the border fence into Nogales, Ariz.
He had been deported just weeks before after completing the prison term. He also had previous convictions for attempted burglary, drugs, and re-entry after deportation.

What I don't understand is why we have to pay to keep these guys in prison.... That alone costs around $30,000. per year.
Why doesn't Arizona bring all its' National Guard and troops home from the ill managed and nutty Aghanistan war. Believe me, our Southern Border invasion is far more worrysome then a muslim civil war. Let Arizona's troops patrol the border (armed, of course) and bus the illegals back to Mexico or California; whichever cesspool is fitting. At least Arizona will be safe and protected. California might not be, but that's their problem. They can always do the same thing Arizona is doing, or just bow to the President of Mexico and hope that Mexico will support them hence forth.
Arizona GOP pushing tough, new border policies, but faces strong...
