ICE releases 2010 immigration enforcement report

    Friday, 07.01.2011, 11:12am

WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended 517,000 foreign nationals in 2010 and removed approximately 387,000 from the U.S. according to a report released this month by the Office of Immigration Statistics.

A total of 73 percent of those removed were from Mexico with Guatemala second at 8 percent. No Arab country was listed among the top 15 countries for apprehension totals, but the "other" category comprised 13,151 apprehensions, which would place it fifth if taken as a single country.

Reinstatements of final orders account for 34 percent of all removals with the DHS removing 169,000 criminal aliens from the U.S. A total of 476,000 foreign nationals were returned to their home countries without a removal order.

Looks like they are counting the ones they move back across the border shortly after they try to cross the first time.

They are going to use these numbers to bolster appearances.

Looking at the numbers from 2009 it looks like they always use those numbers.
