The Corporate Whistleblower Center Calls Out The IRS On Major US Homebuilders,1099 Tax Fraud and Undocumented Workers

For five years the Corporate Whistleblower Center has had an active initiative involving most of the largest US homebuilders for failing to pay billions of federal income tax dollars on over a million undocumented workers. The group says, "in order to get around overtime issues and/or costly federal, state, or local taxes, most of the largest US homebuilders simply 1099'd the undocumented workers, created shell sub-contractors, or watched it happen, and it's time to pay up. This was not federal income tax avoidance, we are talking about the largest cases of tax fraud in US history." The Corporate Whistleblower Center is saying, "last Tuesday's election of Scott Brown was not simply a repudiation of back room deals with respect to health care, it was a repudiation of looking the other way, if you are a federal agency like the IRS, when it comes to well healed good ol' boys, who give tons of money to the US Congress and state legislatures."

(Vocus) January 25, 2010 -- For over five years Americas Watchdog's Corporate Whistleblower Center has been advancing a national investigation focused on major national homebuilders and their failure to pay federal, state, or local taxes on their undocumented workers. The group is saying,"we are talking about a million plus undocumented construction workers, we are talking about publicly traded home builders or large regional homebuilders that concocted elaborate tax fraud sub-contractor schemes or 1099 tax fraud schemes to avoid paying billions in federal taxes--and it's pay up time." The Corporate Whistleblower Center is saying, "last Tuesday's election of Senator Scott Brown was not simply a very strong message about Washington, DC back room deals, it was also a very clear signal from US citizens everywhere that government agencies have to do their job, because no one will accept DMV caliber federal employees anymore. This includes the IRS." The group says, "we went to the IRS about this--with proof--in the summer of 2006 and they looked at us like we were talking Russian. Actually we were talking in really simple English and now we are going to make it a campaign issue in 2010 for every incumbent or candidate for the US Congress and the US Senate. For some reason we think the average US voter will get it, and they will understand--with no problem--how once again a major federal agency really dropped the ball--(IRS)."

So How Does The Major Homebuilder 1099 Sub-Contractor Fraud Scheme Work?

According to Corporate Whistleblower Center, "the national or regional homebuilders created or colluded with sub-contractors or labor brokers/coyotes to 1099 undocumented workers, so as to not have a federal, state or local tax responsibility. These workers were then assigned to framing, sheet-rocking, roofing, plumbing, or other duties on the residential work site, called crews." The group says, "at the end of the week the labor coyote-licensed sub-contractor pays the crew in cash, or one person in the crew gets a check for the job done--a house framed, dry walled, painted house, roofed--with no consideration of taxes, over-time laws, etc. No taxes paid."

The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, "don't believe us? No problem--simply call the Carpenters, or Painters Union in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Miami, Albuquerque, Sacramento, Columbus, Denver, Houston, Baltimore, San Diego, etc. At the same time, please ask about the amount of money we are talking about in this--the largest cases of tax fraud in US history--the federal liability alone is in the billions." The group is saying,"this brings us back to the US IRS. Trust us, this is going to come out--we are going to make a big deal about it--and people are going to ask why did the homebuilders get a free pass? It's an election year and the US taxpayers are sick of getting little in return for their hard earned tax dollars from inept federal agencies that react after the fact, as opposed to abiding by their mandate."

A special note to the US Congress and state legislators from the Corporate Whistleblower Center: "we are going to compile a list of homebuilder/homebuilder PAC donations to members of state legislatures and members of the US House and Senate and put it up on the Internet. The start point will be 2000 to present." The group says, "in a June 2005 Money Magazine article we warned about homebuilders--appraisal fraud and a real estate market train wreck--no one paid much attention (Appraisal Fraud Your Home At Risk). Our national debt has now gone from $7.5 trillion to over $12 trillion, in large part due to national, or regional homebuilders artificially inflating the values of their new homes or condos. So the tax fraud is just part of the pattern of behavior--it's just this time they will pay the tax bill."

Note to the IRS: The Corporate Whistleblower Center will make this really simple for you. "With the threat of going to jail for being complicit with the homebuilder, most residential construction project managers or superintendents will confirm all of this--as will the union organizers for residential construction job sites."
