Will Atlanta become the next Juarez?

In November 2010, federal Drug Enforcement agents and local law enforcement seized $2.4 Million in cash, nearly 95 pounds of cocaine, 46 pounds of methamphetamine, over 4,000 pounds of marijuana and twenty firearms in Atlanta. The raid was part of a program known as Operation Choke Hold, and targeted the operations of La Familia Cartel.

While it is not surprising that drug cartel activity is occurring in American cities close to the largely unprotected U.S-Mexican border, it may be shocking to some that the Atlanta, GA area has become the site of major operations for the drug cartels.

Because of Atlanta’s location and proximity to several other major cities, the city has become a kind of hub for loads of Mexican cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine. The drugs go to so-called ‘stash houses’ before being distributed to locations along the east coast.

Rodney Benson, the head of Atlanta's DEA office, told CNN: “The money comes down here also to money managers in Atlanta, who get the books in order before it is sent out.â€

when the crap gets so thick the leo's cant do anything but quit, then i guess GA's "biggest army" will just have to pick up the slack. it'll take about 3 days.

We just had another raid tonight in my county, a suburb of Atlanta that used to be a nice place to live. They arrested at least 15, discovered a meth lab in one house and two businesses, one south of Atlanta and one in Cobb County. Several homes were raided, money discovered, guns, cocaine and meth.

I am furious - these invaders pollute the place they live and have turned us into a third world country. Can't sell our homes now to escape.

Our local politicians watched and profited from this invasion and now it is completely out of control. They are debating an Arizona type law now. Debating? They should be hiring police and have them everywhere watching and searching for everything and anything to get rid of these criminals.
