Feb. 11, 2015 – ICE, Caribbean Corridor Strike Force seize $29 million worth of cocaine, arrest 13

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working jointly with the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF), seized 989 kilograms of cocaine and arrested 13 individuals for drug trafficking following an at-sea interdiction Feb. 3 approximately eight nautical miles off the coast of Manati. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $29 million. Full Story

Feb. 6, 2015 – ICE recognizes International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM/C

ICE joined U.S. and foreign government partners, NGOs and local communities on Feb. 6, the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), to call for eradication of the practice. Full Story

Feb. 10, 2015 – ICE arrests 2 men for possession of child pornography, sexually enticing minor

Two men were arrested Feb. 6 and Feb. 9 for possession of child pornography and sexually enticing a minor, respectively. The investigations leading to these arrests were conducted by HSI and the Puerto Rico Crimes Against Children Task Force (PRCACTF). Full Story

Feb. 4, 2015 – 20 drug trafficking suspects arrested after ICE-led, multistate investigation

HSI led a multiagency investigation capped Feb. 4 by the arrests of 20 drug trafficking suspects from locations across the country. Full Story

Feb. 12, 2015 – Atlanta attorney arrested in World Trade Center transit hub insurance fraud scam

An Atlanta-based attorney was arrested Feb. 11 on criminal charges for wire fraud and money laundering in connection with the sale of phony insurance bonds for the World Trade Center PATH transportation hub construction. Full Story

Creator and Owner of the "Silk Road" Website Found Guilty

Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that Ross William Ulbricht, a/k/a "Dread Pirate Roberts," a/k/a "DPR," a/k/a "Silk Road," was found guilty yesterday on all seven counts in connection with his operation and ownership of Silk Road, a hidden website designed to enable its users to buy and sell illegal drugs and other unlawful goods and services anonymously and beyond the reach of law enforcement, following a four-week trial before U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest.

Suspected Southern California ‘sex traveler’ arrested boarding flight at LAX
Ronald Carey Shirley, 64, was taken into custody at Los Angeles International Airport as he boarded a Philippines Air flight. The former accountant is charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to produce and attempting to receive child pornography. The charges stem from online communications of a sexual nature the defendant had with underage females in the Philippines and Vietnam, including some messages in which he allegedly solicited sexually explicit images of the victims.

‘Operation Roundtable’ ringleader sentenced to 21 years after ICE investigation
Dubbed “Operation Roundtable,” the case against Johnson has thus far resulted in ten additional individuals being criminally charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Orleans. To date, all ten defendants have pleaded guilty to crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children.

Irfan Ul Haq pleaded guilty in 2011 to providing material support to the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, a designated foreign terrorist organization. As part of the guilty plea, Haq agreed to a stipulated order of removal upon the completion of his criminal sentence.

Jamaican man first to be extradited to face fraud charges in lottery scam
Damion Bryan Barrett, 28, was charged in a 38-count indictment with conspiracy and 37 counts of wire fraud and committing these offenses via telemarketing. Barrett is the first Jamaican citizen to be extradited from that country to the United States based on charges of defrauding Americans in connection with a lottery scheme.
