July 23, 2013 – ICE deports 2 fugitive Mexican murder suspects captured in Los Angeles
Two Mexican nationals, who fled to the United States to avoid prosecution for separate murders in their native country, were turned over to Mexican authorities July 23 following their recent capture in Los Angeles by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers. A 54-year-old Burlington, Vt., man was arrested by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents July 26 on charges that he obtained his naturalized citizenship through fraud by failing to disclose his prior acts of persecution and crimes committed during the Bosnian conflict. Imperial Valley, Calif. - El Centro Sector Border Patrol enforcement operations have led to the recent arrests, convictions, and successful sentencing of 15 illegal immigrants, all of whom had convictions for a crime.The apprehensions took place earlier this year near the cities of Calexico, El Centro, and Indio, Calif.
