Illegal alien going to prison for possessing sawed-off rifle

BOISE -- An Eagle who is in the United States illegally will serve 30 months in federal prison for possessing a sawed-off rifle, U.S. Attorney Tom Moss announced.

Antonio Flores, 43, pled guilty in federal court to being an illegal alien in possession of firearm resulting from his involvement in a shooting on June 28, 2006, on East Elliot Street in Eagle.

The incident stemmed from an argument between Flores and another man. During the argument, Flores fired a sawed-off Ruger .22 rifle. The bullet hit a teenage bystander in the left arm.

The teen was not seriously injured, but was taken to the hospital. Flores fled the area, but was eventually arrested by Garden City Police. He later admitted to possessing the sawed-off rifle and firing it.

Flores was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Edward J. Lodge in Boise.

After serving his prison term, he will serve 3 years on supervised release.

Just another day in the life of a good hard-working individual trying to take care of his family.

"After serving his prison term, he will serve 3 years on supervised release." Why wouln't he be deported after jail?

Really, why is'nt he being deported???
