AG from Nevada, 2 Mexican states sign crime-fighting pact

Attorneys general from Nevada, 2 Mexican states sign crime-fighting pact

    Associated Press - December 16, 2008 2:15 PM ET

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Nevada and the Mexican states of Baja California and Chihuahua are agreeing to work together to curb cross-border drug dealing, money laundering and human trafficking.

Mexican state attorneys general Rommel Manjarrez from Baja California and Patricia Gonzalez from Chihuahua signed an agreement Monday with Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto in Las Vegas.

Officials say Chihuahua and Baja California have similar agreements with New Mexico and Oregon.

Even though Nevada does not border Mexico, authorities say smuggled methamphetamine and other drugs reach the state.

Cortez Masto says money also is laundered in Las Vegas and returned to Mexico.

Nevada and the two Mexican states plan to share intelligence and investigative techniques, and information about Mexican criminal fugitives who might be in the United States

Look who signed the agreement. Two Mexicans from Mexico, and a Mexican-American. Does Atty Cortez Masto have dual citizenship. How in the hell is this agreement going to help? They are going to "share intelligence and techniques". Mexico is probably the most corrupt country in the world. What could they possibly offer Nevada in way of intelligence and techniques? This is laughable.
