Reid plans to pass immigration reform measure this year
Reid plans to pass immigration reform measure this year
Page Last Updated: Thursday July 1, 2010 5:53pm PDT
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he's committed to passing an immigration reform measure this year as the White House turns its attention to the issue.
The Nevada Democrat, who's in a tight re-election race with Republican Sharron Angle, could benefit politically from enacting a broad overhaul. He pushed for legislation in the spring to provide an eventual path to citizenship for many illegal immigrants in the U.S., but shelved the plan when other Democrats declined to jump on board.
President Barack Obama on Thursday tried to breath new life into the stalled immigration reform effort, and blamed the delay on the GOP. He says Republicans are giving in to the "pressures of
partisanship and election-year politics."
Obama also wants to create a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

Since everything seems to be politically motivated instead of what is good for AMERICANS we probably should have rubbed Nobrainers nose in it AFTER the Nov elections. If Nobrainer wants to get stuborn, he just might do an EO to pass it and go around congress to "show us" who's boss. After the election it might not be so easy.

NO - they are realizing that they had better conform to the will of the people once in awhile and the people have had enough. If they persist in their insanity there will not be a nation left for them to govern and/or anybody who has any money at all will be fleeing the carnage on US soil.Restitution to Displaced Citizens First!

I just heard the NRA is considering backing this old fart. I guess he promised Nevada a 61 million (?) shooting range.

the Republican Party for all their fanfare about support for Sharron Angle doesn't seem to be doing to much to get Sharron Angle elected in fact they are not countering the attacks by Reid at all..if they don't start soon he will get re-elected...

November - December. Count on it. The lameduck congress will be out for revenge at having been voted out of office.
