Sheriff blames Chicago for immigrant crime

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - Lake County's sheriff is blaming the city of Chicago's failure to control illegal immigrants for rising crime.

Sheriff Mark Curran said Thursday the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois have shown little interest in cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Curran said he was doing his part to stop "the terror inflicted by many of these illegal aliens." However, he said he and his office does not tolerate any discrimination based on race or ethnicity or condone racial profiling.

Mayor Richard Daley said immigrants were an important part of Chicago, and that anti-immigrant groups overstate the amount of crime committed by undocumented immigrants.

Curran has applied for certification in a program which gives local law enforcement officials deportation powers under Immigration and Customs supervision.

Hello! Illegal immigration is a crime, so all of them are dishonest criminals, not just the ones packing your jails.

Why must we day after day after day hear this same tired rhetoric from our elected officials? I want to know why when a Sheriff says their is a problem, we have to hear how wonderful immigrants are for our comunities, which is disingenuous to begin with, since we are talking about ILLEGAL INVADERS, NOT IMMIGRANTS!

Mayor Daley has to honor the IOU he signed when the anchor babies handed him the latino vote in his consecutive "selections". Additionally, Chicago is also full of Irish and Polish illegal aliens. Getting rid of them and the hispanic illegals would put a strain on too many of their career aldermen and their dreams of having cheap labor readily available should they achieve their dream of snagging the 2016 Olympic.
