Illegal Immigrant Caught in Valley Hoping for US Citizenship

HARLINGEN - One man is hoping President Obama fulfills his campaign pledge of immigration reform to create a legal path to citizenship for illegals already living here.

Felipo is in the US illegally, but five of his six children are American citizens.

Felipo's last journey to America was much different. He left Guatemala 15 years ago. He says there wasn't any jobs available, he couldn't make any money. At the time he couldn't afford to bring his daughter Maria with him. She was just a baby then.

He and his wife settled in Georgia. Last year he was deported back to Guatemala. He returned to the US a few months ago with his 16-year-old daughter Maria.

They walked through jungles for days, drove in cars as they traveled through Mexico and finally arrived in McAllen. They were caught in the brush and taken to a detention center.

An immigration judge allowed him to bond out. He believes its because of his 5 other children who are US citizens.

Immigration judges can allow undocumented workers to apply for legal status if they can prove they have children born here who depend on them for survival.

Felipo has court in May. He says he wants to work for a living, legally. He hopes he can get his papers.

This pisses me off!!! He and his wife leave their baby in Guatemala (got no problem "separating the family" then do they?). He couldn't make any money..boohoohooo.

Then he and the missus sneak into the US and pop out FIVE MORE kids?!?!?! When did they have time to work?!?!?! Do they consider having more anchor work?!?!?!

Get him, the wife, the daughter and the 5 anchors and DEPORT EM NOW!!!

If the anchors want to come back when they're adults, nothing's stopping them. But the parents should be permanently banned from ever coming back!!

This is absolutely ludicrous! The judge shouldn't have allowed him out on bond because his return makes him a repeat offender which means he's a felon. These judges need to get on the same page. Obviously a previous judge had no heartache deporting him - that is unless he didn't fight deportation.

I'll bet it was a liberal judge, Any takers?

This guy committed FELONY re-entering and he bonded out and hopes he gets papers This judge should be disbarred and this guy should be tried and sentenced to a minimum of 10 years In prison,then he should be deported. We have laws for a reason,and if we keep just willy nilly enforcing the ones we like and don't like,that makes us just as bad as the criminals...
