Illegal alien charged with Pa. woman's murder, found in Mexico

On Monday, Oscar Lozano Garcia, 36, was arrested in Puebla, Mexico, by the U.S. Marshals Service.

In December 2012, Garcia reportedly strangled his girlfriend, 32-year-old Maria Brea, to death and hid her body in the attic above the apartment they shared in Hazleton, according to court documents.

Garcia immediately fled to Mexico and was seen crossing the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville on Dec. 17, 2012, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The Citizen's Voice reported:

Her body was bound by a layer of tape and then wrapped in plastic that was secured in a second layer of tape, police wrote. The door to the attic was padlocked with Lozano Garcia's lock, and the seam around the door was sealed with tape, authorities said.
Six fingerprints that matched Lozano Garcia's prints were found on tape used to wrap Brea's body.

Garcia currently sits in a jail cell in Mexico City, awaiting extradition to the U.S.
Luzerne County District Attorney's Office has charged Garcia with one count of criminal homicide, but his charges could be upgraded upon his return.
