Illegal Alien Convict Accused of Sex Abuse Bankrupts County with $1M Taxpayer-Funded Medical Bills

Utah County Jail2 Aug 201891A previously convicted illegal alien accused of sexually abusing an underage girl whom he is related to is racking up close to $1 million in taxpayer-funded medical bills while in Utah prison.

A report from the Salt Lake Tribune reveals the extent to which illegal aliens cost the American taxpayer.


Gerardo Valerio-Romero, a 49-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested and charged with sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl who is a relative of his. While in the custody of Utah County, the illegal alien was diagnosed with cancer and began receiving treatment.


Salt Lake Tribune reporter Taylor Anderson noted how the illegal alien’s cancer treatment — funded by Utah taxpayers — is draining the county’s budget:

Even at a discount, Valerio-Romero’s cancer treatments have drained the county jail’s medical budget. His case is set for trial early next month, and he’s caught the interest of federal immigration officials who will look at possibly deporting him if he’s acquitted. Until then, he’s in Utah’s court system, where his case is stalled and costs from his treatment continue to climb. [Emphasis added]

Valerio-Romero was previously convicted of a crime but was never deported out of the U.S. The country has an illegal alien population of about 12 million illegal aliens, costing American taxpayers about $116 billion every year.



The illegal alien’s million dollar and climbing medical bills are practically bankrupting the county. Since the illegal alien’s medical bills started racking up, the now-resigned county sheriff, Jim Tracy, has had to ask for “emergency budget help,” according to the Salt Lake Tribune.


“The solution to this problem … was adding additional money,” Tracy said. “This guy pops up with a million-dollar [problem], which we don’t even have. That’s why there was the crisis. The solution has always been from Day One you’re going to have to transfer money” to cover medical costs. [Emphasis added]



Valerio-Romero is set to stand trial on August 8 and he has pleaded not guilty to all of the sex abuse charges against him. The Salt Lake Tribune also notes that the illegal alien may have been committing identity theft to work and cash checks, using an alias.

On Wednesday, MRCTV uploaded a new video in which Brittany Hughes talks about Gerardo Valerio-Romero, an illegal alien who has been charged with the sexual abuse of his 8-year-old stepdaughter, and is receiving cancer treatments using taxpayer money:

After her introduction, Hughes gets right down to it:

49-year-old Gerardo Valerio-Romero's tab for cancer treatment has all but bankrupted the local jail in a Utah county, where he's been charged with six counts of sexually assaulting his own 8-year-old stepdaughter, along with eight felony counts of forgery and one count of illegally possessing someone else's ID.
Valerio-Romero was arrested back in March of last year, but his trial has already been postponed twice. ... In the meantime, he's managed to cost the county nearly a million bucks in cancer treatments – and that's even after the hospital agreed to discounts.

The Washington Post reports that Valerio-Romero's cancer treatments have completely drained the county jail's entire medical budget, which was only about a half a million to begin with. This problem has gotten so bad in fact that Sheriff Jim Tracy announced he is resigning effective August 3, largely thanks to budgetary stress stemming from having to fork over this guy's medical costs and figuring out which governmental body bears responsibility for paying it.

The County Commission is actually scrambling to shift tax dollars around from other public services so that they can cover this one inmate's mounting expenses despite the fact that he shouldn't even be here in the first place.

Hughes then answers the question that any average reader might be asking — why doesn’t the government just deport him?

Now, you might be asking why authorities don't just release this guy and boot him back to Mexico. Well, they would, except the sheriff's office said that they're afraid to drop the charges and let him go because they aren't convinced that he'll actually get deported, and even if he does, that he won't just come right back. And isn't that just a little sad?

She concludes by laying out the cost of all illegal aliens in federal prisons:

Now, keep in mind that this is just one illegal inmate in a sea of similar stories across the entire country. The DOJ estimates illegal aliens make up roughly 28% of some a 184,000 total federal inmates. That's about 51,000 individuals. According to the Federal Register, each of those prisoners costs an average of $32,000 a year, meaning that illegal alien felons alone cost American taxpayers about $1.6 billion annually – and this doesn't even begin to count those being held in state prisons and local jails like Valerio-Romero.
But, of course, leave it to the poor folks in Utah to pick up the tap for a serial child molester's chemo because leftist policies have allowed creeps like this to live illegally in the U.S., assault little kids, and then get free government health care.

After all, what are Americans if not the rest of the world's pocket book?

Why does this sheriff's office have doubts they might not get deported? What do they know that we don't know?

I'm no lawyer, but seems to me the County should sue the federal government for the cost since it is their job to secure the border and rid our country of illegal aliens. Once that's done, the federal government should then sue Mexico since the guy is their citizen and entered our country illegally.

Whatever the case, the guy needs pay for the crime of raping his 8 year old stepdaughter. Now if she's illegal too, he should serve time in a Mexican prison because it would be a case of one Mexican citizen raping another Mexican citizen. Of course that all makes too much sense to be considered logical by our own government and the government of Mexico.

Which is why ALL non-citizens and illegal aliens who commit crimes need to be handed over to Federal authorities and put in Federal Tent City on Federal Land with a panel of FEDERAL Judges with NO amenities and OUT of the Local and State jurisdiction, OUT of their jails and prisons...the citizens of those State are footing the enormous costs of illegal aliens, visa overstays, refugee crimes, TPS and asylum liars and criminals!

They all fall under Federal Immigration LAWS...now get them out of the jurisdiction of the States.

The sick ones, fast track them out of here! No medical care!
