CONCORD, NH - Another illegal alien using false information to gain access to driving privileges in the state of New Hampshire has been sentenced in U.S. District Court.

Alberto Martinez of Boston pled guilty to a two count indictment charging him with misrepresenting a Social Security number and falsely claiming to be a United States citizen. He was sentenced to time served last week and will now be deported, according to U.S. Attorney Emily Gray Rice.

Back in November 2015, Martinez attempted to renew a New Hampshire driver’s license at the Salem DMV that he had acquired under a false identity in which he used a Social Security number that was not assigned to him, according to Rice. When a New Hampshire State trooper began questioning him, Martinez claimed to be from Puerto Rico. Martinez had completed a license renewal form on which he affirmatively stated that he was a United States citizen.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrived to assist the New Hampshire State Police and after the defendant was informed that ICE intended to take his fingerprints for comparison to known fingerprints maintained by ICE, he admitted that his true name was Alberto Martinez, that he was a citizen of the Dominican Republic, and he stated he illegally entered the United States in 2009 by walking across the United States border with Mexico.

"ICE officers proceeded to fingerprint the defendant," Rice noted. "(Department of Homeland Security’s Integrated Automated Biometric Identification System) indicated that the fingerprint impressions submitted were an exact match to a defendant with a criminal history in Massachusetts under the false name the defendant had been using."

State police noted last year that Martinez was also using an alias with a fake Pennsylvania license, according to its investigation.
