Illegal Alien Invasion: Modern Culture is the Culprit

With Democrats and Republicans alike tap-dancing around the entire issue of illegal immigration, little hope for a true fix will be found until the root causes are addressed. And those causes go directly to the cultural rot that has run rampant in America over the past several decades.

But while society in general has been severely degraded by it, its effects are being manifested in the illegal situation to a greater degree than seemed possible only a few years ago.

It is no wonder that California, with obsessively “progressive attitudes dominating every public institution from the local animal shelter to the highest state offices, is being completely overwhelmed by the influx of illegals. On every occasion that they attempt to take serious corrective action, Californians are thoroughly hamstrung by the very system they nurtured and promoted

California’s courts have no problem overruling any effort of the people to reign in the problem. Their schools, under the dominion of “political correctness and multiculturalism, have long engaged in the soft segregationism of “bilingual education. It is unrealistic to expect that they would advocate any resurgence of old-fashioned patriotism and Americanism that might promote the cultural assimilation of immigrants.

The government of Mexican President Vicente Fox has, in recent months, become increasingly hostile to American interests, even to the point of shielding Mexican citizens from accountability for murder committed within the U.S. borders. Of course the Fox government is quick to threaten legal action in the event that its invading legions are denied their “constitutional rights, as defined by Mexican officials.

But Fox is not the ultimate villain. Rather, he is merely someone who recognizes opportunities made available to him by accomplices north of the border. The true culprits lurk among those in authority throughout local, state and federal governing institutions of the United States. Without their collaboration, Fox could not hope for any success in his seditious efforts.

Consider the whole concept of “sanctuary cities, which are jurisdictions that refuse cooperation with immigration authorities, thus providing safe havens for illegal immigrants. Such thinking results primarily from softheaded liberal philosophies, normally pursued in an effort to make their originators feel good about themselves (with an added benefit being the steady supply of dependent class voters).

But the unintended consequences can be dire. Denver Colorado, one such city, is now in an uproar over the killing of a detective by an illegal immigrant who was apprehended on three occasions for such crimes as driving without a license and using phony identification papers. Yet because of “sanctuary laws, prior to the murder he could not be held, deported, or even questioned. Now, as a fugitive, he has likely returned to Mexico where he will be “protected from American justice.

Nor should Fox’s American collaborators be presumed to only reside among the political left. Just as the countercultural mindset has overtaken the Democrat Party, so has a mindless allegiance to capitalism undermined the Republicans. While capitalism is the inevitable byproduct of a free and just society, it is no more inherently moral, in and of itself, than any other economic system. Those who doubt this need only look to former Enron CEO Ken Lay.

Among unscrupulous capitalists, the flood of illegals provides a short-term financial windfall. But just as those on the left indulge their sympathies through “sanctuary laws while disregarding the consequences inflicted on the rest of society, so do these business interests reap financial benefits in total disregard of the long-term detriment they are doing the country.

Primarily, they operate under the noble sounding premise that “illegal immigrants are only doing jobs that Americans will not do. More accurately, they do jobs Americans refuse to do for Mexican wages.

In any case, how many jobs of this nature could there possibly be? Do they suggest that the twelve to fifteen million illegals already in this country are insufficient to perform such work? The stark truth is that illegals only linger briefly in such jobs, thereafter occupying higher rungs of the economic ladder, where they further displace American workers.

To whatever degree this scenario is economically viable, it requires an unending influx of illegals. Therefore, this strain of “capitalism
ultimately profits by giving the country away.

Americans who cherish their nation and hope to pass its blessings on to their posterity must immediately begin restoring their sense of national culture and patriotism. Otherwise, some very undesirable alternatives are waiting to replace it.

I found this a thoughtful article. I vehemently agreed with the last paragraph. How do we wake them up?? Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the need to move faster...to accomplish more.

I am afraid things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. Not until it DOES get worse are enough people going to wake up and do anything about it.

Dismal picture, Don. Very dismal but probably too true. I am deeply concerned that they will get CAFTA passed...and I absolutely can't believe that anyone is seriously considering the McCain/Kennedy bill.
