PHOENIX (AP) - An illegal immigrant has been sentenced to 10 years in an Arizona prison for dealing in methamphetamine.

The Arizona Attorney General's Office says Alejandro Castro-Vega received the maximum prison term Monday.

He was accused of operating a methamphetamine distribution ring in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Authorities say Castro-Vega was responsible for receiving hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine from sources in Mexico and then distributing the drug to Phoenix-area customers.

Tempe police and special agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a 10-month investigation of the drug ring.

Investigators say more than $680,000 in cash was seized from Castro-Vega's drug proceeds.
