Illegal aliens detained in San Diego
Suspected illegal immigrants detained
By Mike Lee, UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER

Police and customs officials on Sunday night were inspecting a boat anchored offshore at the north end of Torrey Pines State Beach and detained seven people suspected of being illegal immigrants, according to the U.S. Coast Guard, which also responded to the incident.
The investigation started at about 8 p.m. when lifeguards received a phone tip about swimmers coming ashore from the boat, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Henry Dunphy. The investigation was still going two hours later.
Dunphy said border agents were assessing the swimmers’ immigration status and the Coast Guard planned to tow the 18-foot speed boat to San Diego. No one was on board the vessel when officials found it.
No injuries were reported.

It's nice to see the San Diego Lifeguards and the San Diego Police work together with the Coast Guard to enforce federal law.
