Illegal immigrant arrested for sexually assaulting elderly woman

On June 18, the 72-year-old complainant had been working in her yard for approximately 20 minutes and returned to her house to retrieve a pair of pliers to repair a chair in the house. As she was sitting on the floor repairing the chair, a hispanic male entered the living room from the hallway and startled her. The suspect grabbed the complainant, drug her back into the hallway and sexually assaulted her. When the assault was complete, the suspect fled the scene through the open garage door.

The complainant advised responding units that she had seen the suspect earlier in the week and thought that he may have been one of several illegal immigrants who performed construction/concrete work and lived in a house nearby.

Deputies arriving at the scene secured the residence for investigators from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Unit and Crime Scene Unit.

During a subsequent search of the suspect residence, the suspect, later identified as David William Ponce-Rivera DOB 1/15/1981, was found hiding under a blanket in a bedroom. The suspect was detained and the complainant was able to make a positive identification from a photo line-up.

The suspect was booked into the Harris County Jail for the offense of Burglary of a Residence to Commit Sexual Assault. He currently has No Bond and has an immigration hold pending trial .
