NEW YORK – While the United States fights the economic crisis and cracks down on illegal immigration, illegal immigrants from China are willing to pay $82,000, about $10,000 more than two years ago, to enter the United States. The World Journal reports that statistics from organizations serving immigrants from Fujian Province of China show about 3,000 immigrants arrived in the United States illegally this year. Over 90 percent are male. One man who recently arrived in New York said he paid the money and left China about a year ago, when the United States didn't have the economic crisis. The Chinese-language newspaper said the immigrants pay more because of the devaluation of U.S. dollars to Chinese money as well as the increasing challenge in entering country illegally. Some were found, deported to China and returned illegally a second time, leaving each of them more than $100,000 debt.
