If you cross the border illegally in Mexico, when they catch you, it's instant prison. No excuses. You broke their laws and you pay their price. However, Mexico's citizens think they can thwart our laws and subvert our country with lawlessness.

Colorado houses an estimated 700,000 illegal criminal aliens within its borders. They wreak havoc on Colorado schools, hospitals, prisons and citizens. (www.cohd23.com) (www.cairco.org)

Yesterday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said during a CNN interview, "Crossing the border is not a crime per se." Balderdash! The secretary missed the fact that illegal border crossing remains a criminal misdemeanor. USC 8, Sec. 1325(a) says that crossing the border illegally is punishable by up to six months in prison for the first offense. The second time, it’s a felony!

Thankfully, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Jeff Sessions demanded a public correction of her statement.

Roy Beck, Director of www.numbersusa.com said, “It is breathtaking that a cabinet secretary, bestowed by the public with the responsibility to protect our nation’s borders, could be ignorant of the undisputable fact that it is a violation of the criminal code to enter our country illegally. U.S.C. 8, 1325(a), which has been in effect for decades and codified in its current form since 1991, is unambiguous that doing so is a crime. This is one of the most baffling statements from a high government official I have ever heard.â€

criminal alien trespass, IS a crime and it IS punishable by jail and deportation.
Good article. However, I don't support the thinking that a one way ticket back home is punishment. Jail is punishment, not deportation. The thought of deportation is not a deterrent. Personally, I think the federal government should take Sheriff Arpaio's lead and build a massive tent city on the border and require every illegal alien to spend a minimum of six months living in a tent in the desert. Repeat offenders should be required a minimum of 24 months.

Let's see how well Illegal aliens can take care of their families from a tent city in the desert.
