Juan Casarubia-Rendon, an illegal entrant, was stopped for DWI with a blood alcohol level of .32%, no license, no insurance, released on an appearance ticket and driven home by deputies.

Some farmers won't admit it publicly, but things are changing. Years ago, Mexican migrant workers travelled the planting and harvest seasons across the country without much notice. Area farmers could rely on many of the same migrant workers returning to Wayne County and to the same farms year after year. There was no denying, the Mexican workers were hard working and filling a job sector locals shunned away from.

Of all the migrant trade, Mexicans were the most reliable, most consistent and the group with the fewest problems for local authorities. Over the past several years, local police agencies have seen a change among the transient groups. Stabbings, prostitution, drugs, check schemes and especially crimes involving driving are notably on the rise. It was estimated by one law enforcement administrator that as many as half of migrants may be operating vehicles illegally.

Although the majority of Mexican migrants still adhere to the old standards of hard work and the policy of sending weekly monies back to their families across the border, Mexican workers are falling into the same pattern followed by earlier migrant workers including Puerto Rican, Jamaican and poor Afro-Americans, once the staple of the migrant circuit.

Another change in the migrant population over the years is the rise in illegal migrant workers. The U.S. Border Patrol definitely stepped up arrests after 911, conducting searches at area farms for illegal aliens and parking lots of area supermarkets and shopping centers. The U.S. Border Patrol has reportedly been very active in the Sodus area for the past several months, according to Sodus Police Chief Sharon Purdy, stating they were responding to citizen complaints.

Some County farmers and migrant social organizations have howled about some of the enforcement that has scared some migrants from returning to the area, accusing police agencies of targeting Hispanics.

Sodus Town Supervisor, Steve LeRoy, said he has been approached several times by members of migrant social groups, complaining about police agencies and border patrol agents “hasslingâ€

They are only here to work! Who wants to hire a drunk or a dope head?

Bingo....there's been a serious change. They are bringing the crime and lifestyle with them that supposidly they are fleeing from. Even the corruption pays off better here and they are doing that......not picking tomatoes.

They are getting a slap on the wrist for the same crimes a citizen is in serious trouble for. They aren't getting the fines or the same demands placed on them that citizens are. Like....loose your license, serious heafty fines, alcohol classes, anger management classes, time in jail, probation, community service....I mean it's been basicly nothing coz there's a few, I swear, are in the paper every week. DUI, no license, no insurance, dealing drugs and more often than not, domestic abuse in a house with children.....which used to be serious HRS intervention, taking the children if the woman dropped the charges and charging her with neglect for allowing her kids to be raised in that environment if he comes back.....without serious court mandated alcohol and anger classes and mandated therapy, on down the line. Each of those classes and therapy paid for by you and the court doesn't care if you have the money, have to feed your children or anything else. Never knew anyone where ability to pay was considered......do it or go to jail. And pay child support as well.

I think the worst they have done is impound cars......followed the next day with a robbery where they say they did it to get their car out of the impound lot. DUI, no license, no insurance, no time in jail, and the next day robbing.......I don't get it. Trust me......if I did 1/10th of that I wouldn't be seeing the light of day for awhile or be beyond broke trying to pay for everything.

Giving illegal aliens a ride home OR LETTING THEM GO by policemen, is why SO MANY ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE KILLING AMERICANS ON OUR ROADS!

DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS!

This scum has no license, insurance, no anything and is an illegal invader to boot. He is arrested for DWI twice in almost as many months. What is going on in this country! Why is this invader still here? What are they waiting for, for him to kill an innocent American citizen!

Further, i'm sick and tired of the actions of illegals being defended under the guise they are "farm workers." There are 20-30 million illegal invaders in this country and I would bet that 98% of them have never worked one day on a farm while being in this country illegally! It's simply aother excuse used to defend these illegal invaders!
