Illegal entry just one of many crimes

    By: CHRIS BOYD - Commentary

I was born in 1968 in Inglewood, a city within Los Angeles County. For my entire 39 years, I have resided in Southern California ---- Los Angeles, Orange and currently San Diego County. I am an 18-year law enforcement officer and I am currently a police sergeant with a North San Diego County law enforcement agency. I have worked patrol, narcotics and traffic assignments, each of which has given me the opportunity to observe the adverse impact on the community caused by illegal aliens.

As a patrol officer, I have encountered numerous situations where illegal aliens have committed acts of domestic violence, assault, burglary, rape, robbery, mayhem and murder. The city where I am employed currently has at least a half dozen outstanding warrants for the arrest of murder, rape and/or robbery suspects who were in the country illegally when they perpetrated their crime(s), only to then flee across the border into Mexico (their country of origin and citizenship).

As the supervisor of my department's vice/narcotics unit, I had the opportunity to investigate and supervise investigations of illegal aliens who cultivated marijuana, manufactured methamphetamine, and smuggled heroin and cocaine across the border. These illegal aliens frequently made tens of thousands of dollars a month from their illicit narcotics trafficking. They lived in cheap apartments or rented HUD-subsidized homes and oftentimes raised multiple children who obtained education at the expense of U.S. citizens. During the service of state and/or federal search warrants, the discovery of tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars in U.S. currency (proceeds from narcotics sales) was common. Even more frequent was the discovery of documentation of money orders/wire transfers of hundreds of thousands of dollars to foreign countries (mainly Mexico, but also to South American countries as well).

As a traffic unit supervisor, I am constantly reviewing reports of traffic collisions involving illegal aliens, many of whom are not only unlicensed, but are also uninsured. A significant percentage of hit-and-run collisions are believed to involve illegal aliens. Illegal aliens are also involved in a disproportionate number of alcohol-related serious injury and fatal traffic collisions.

As you can see, people who come to my country illegally commit crimes other than just their initial act of crossing what is supposed to be the border into what is supposed to be a sovereign nation.

As a police officer, I have taken an oath to defend the Constitution and the laws of our great nation from enemies, both foreign and domestic. Our elected officials have taken the same oath. Due to politics and the fear of false claims of racism, our elected officials consistently fail in their oath of office ---- I refuse to fail in fulfilling my oath. I commend the Escondido Police Department for their proactive stance, and sincerely hope that other law enforcement agencies follow their lead.

Chris Boyd lives in coastal North County.

Isn't this a duplicate of the San Diego Policeman thread?
