An illegal alien from Mexico was sentenced in Maryland to a 10-year for impregnating the 12-year-old daughter of a family with whom he was living, with 8 1/2 years suspended by the judge.

Noberto Vasquez-Fuentes, 21, was sentenced under a plea agreement that included a guilty plea to second-degree rape of the girl with whom he had sex on five occasions in September 2005.

Prosecutors said the girl became pregnant but did not give birth and declined to say whether it was due to an abortion or miscarriage.

The girl believed she and Vasquez-Fuentes were in love, said Assistant State's Attorney Kathleen Rogers.

Assistant Public Defender William Davis, attorney for Vasquez-Fuentes, suggested "a cultural difference" may have kept his client from realizing his actions were wrong.

"He did have feelings for her," Davis told the Annapolis Capital.

Prosecutors agreed to the reduced sentence imposed by Circuit Court Judge Ronald A. Silkworth because the girl's family did not want the girl to testify and because of "possible weaknesses in the case."

Many illegals are no more than animals. America has its own problems, we don't need other countries. We need to focus on our own sick people and let the other countries focus on their sick people.

This infuriates me and makes me wonder why Americans are making excuses for these criminals.

You nailed it! I said same thing in another thread. This speaks volumes to the cultural differences, because where they come from, it is deemed acceptable to have sex with a 12 or 13 year old. It is also acceptable to drink and drive. They are NOT going to assimilate, but bring this part of their 'culture' here!

The legal age to marry in Mexico is 12. Those family values don't stop at the border.

The problem, as always, is massive illegal immigration which severely hampers our ability to assimilate these people. Assimilation can be successful if they come in smaller number via legal immigration and it is made clear to them that they are required to assimilate to our cultural values and language. There is more support for them to be able to do so.

However, with massive, unfettered illegal immigration, our ability to properly assimilate these people is severely hampered and they are colonizing rather than assimilating. They are instead replicating in this country the culture from which they came. If this continues, we will be a balkanized country where a sub group is alienated from the mainstream of the country. If what we see going on in Europe with unassimilated immigrants is an example of what is to come, it does not bode well for the future of this country.

That is exactly WHY Mexicans will never assimilate into American society.
The man is almost 10 years older than she is and he should have known better. She was just a child.
The man should have had a stiffer sentence.

12 is the age of consent?!
What twelve year old is mature enough to make a decision of thet magnatude?
