Illegal immigrant charged in murder of Kenner woman

An illegal immigrant working in a Kenner body shop has been charged with the killing of a young woman whose body was found in a Kenner field earlier this week.

According to Kenner Police, 34-year-old Ronnie Omar Shavarria admitted he killed Bobbie Joe Hulsey in the body shop where he worked before dumping her body.

Police said Shavarria is an illegal immigrant from Honduras and has lived in Kenner for only a few months.

The victim had an extensive criminal background, according to the police, who believe she met Shavarria through prostitution.

Shavarria faces second-degree murder charges.
